Always determined to bring you further into the world of GetJazzical, we’ve taken the lens cap off the recording equipment one more time in our latest video. Yes, it does look like we record our episodes in a laundry room, and yes Olly does look so pale he’s kind of see through, but that’s why he took that al-expenses paid trip to New York.
Don’t worry folks, we’ll be back to doing what we do best very soon. NOT appearing in front of a camera.
I sit here with my tender young hands wrapped around a mug of joe so big that ‘Venti’ cups look away in shame and I pronounce the legendary GetJazzical interview with Bad Ass Brass is, finally, complete! It may have taken weeks to do but by gosh…it’s beautiful. Well actually Olly sounds like a posh snake with a lisp and Alasdair sounds a little frightened child when you can hear him at all. It was, in our defense, recorded on an iPhone which kept going flat. Thanks Steve Jobs.
This interview was recorded at the Blagclub in Ladbrokes Grove during a bold, brash and brassy performance by the band and the interview features Gemma Moore who plays the Baritone saxaphone and Jon Stokes who supplies Trombone and sultry vocals.
It was our first live recording and we’d like to thank the band for having us. Please don’t forget to check out the rest of Bad Ass Brass on their MySpace.
In Episode Six when we played Giulio Carmassi, we mentioned his youtube videos. Carmassi’s musical talent is…unfair. He can play 20 different instruments (including the descant recorder), and has played in rock bands, composed for films, dabbled in Electronica and lived in Italy and LA. Being British, the easiest thing in the world would be to hate him, and we would…if we didn’t love him so much.
Here’s a taster of just how disgustingly brilliant the man is.
Before podcasting, there was video, the now outdated technology of applying moving pictures to sounds. It was big for a while, and everyone got really excited, but no one ever thought it would catch on. It was like Twitter, and Bird Flu.
